SEVEN WITCHES
YEAR OF THE WITCH

 By Ryan Lane

Review: Right off the bat I was assaulted with the kick ass track Metal Asylum. This songs lyrics consist of Heavy Metal band names, and song titles. Really cool. The next 5 tracks were pretty killer too, and then the cd takes a turn. They seem to be doing some sort of concept album about Jacob, with acts. Acts 1-8 are tracks 7-14 on the cd. I could have done without the whispers of Jacob before it began, and the screams of NO! throughout some of the songs. The songs are pretty good as stand alone songs, but I don't think they measure up to the beginning of the cd. I think if you're going to do a concept cd, but you can't hold a candle to something like Operation:Mindcrime from Queensryche, then don't bother. They could have written more of the same stuff as the beginning of the cd, and had a great cd. All in all, they have a great metal sound, and it is something I will listen to again. Just maybe the first half.

Favorite Tracks: "Metal Asylum"; "Year of the Witch"; "Fires Below"; "Cries of the Living"; "If You Were God"; "Can't Find My Way"

Least Favorite Tracks: The whole Jacob thing kind of ruined it for me after that.

Booklet: N/A, just a cardboard slipcase..  Promo
