Review: Well I haven't been thrilled with a lot of the releases in the last few years by the Dokken boys, maybe cause of all the line-up changes... But this one seemed to step up the tempo a bit again, and this new guitar player Jon Levin, has the closest sound to Lynch I've heard in a long time, which is more reminiscent of the old Dokken songs.. especially in tunes like "Don't Bring me Down" (should have been the opener) and "Prozac Nation".. The sound on this c.d. is pretty much straight ahead rock n roll.. Dokken style, no crazy experimental songs, or alternative feel. Old fans will be happy with the classic Don Dokken sound.. his voice is holding up just fine.. Not so many high notes, but still sounds great... and the double bass thumpin and great back-ups from Wild Mick Brown.. along with newer bass player Barry Sparks, as solid as ever.. and hopefully this is the beginning of a new relationship between Levin and Dokken.. cause he fits right in!
Favorite song: ya call me sappy.. but I love "Care for you" and there is two versions on here.. one w/just piano, great song.. that hits home lyrically for me right now... so kudos to that song.
Least favorite song: "The Last Goodbye" shouldn't have been the opener, makes the c.d. seem to be on the subdued , mellow side.. kinda has the alternative sound that I don't like from them......
Booklet: Pretty cool booklet.. individual photos of each guy, along w/group pic in the center, all the lyrics, and thanks.. I'm not sure how I feel about the cover.. looks kinda like a local bands artwork.. but what do I know..
