I'm going to do a
rating system on where this c.d. will end up in my household..
1 Star.. Straight to Ebay.
2 Stars... It will sit on my "older" c.d. rack to collect dust.
3 Stars.... It will stay in my "listen to rack" to go through every once in a
while.
4 Stars.... It will be in my computer while I'm working.
5 Stars.. It will be cranking through the house.. and car.. my girlfriend will
have to get used to it..

Review: Oh my god... this is a joke right... O.K. let me start by saying just because this is a "hair band type website" I have followed Metallica since Ride the Lightning.. but wasn't a big fan till Master of Puppets, so I'm not one of the "commercial fans" that jumped on the band wagon when the "Black album" came out... so I've gone through it all with every other fan.. the start of the videos, the cutting of the hair, the explosion on stage hurting James, the alcohol problems, the member changes.. etc. So I've been looking forward to this album for a very long time... and after I heard who the new bass player was.. I was really pumped... then I heard St.Anger.... and being a drummer, I don't think I ever got past the first hit of the snare.. it sounds as though Lars turned the "snares" off... It sounds like a garbage can lid.. oh my god I hated it.. but I tried to get past it and listen.. but It to this day hasn't grow on me that much.. sure I stopped changing the station when it comes on.. trying to figure out when I'm going to "get" this new sound.. James stopped singing.. and started screaming, and yelling.. Lars stopped playing solid and now plays, what sounds like 4-5 separate songs in every song... I understand they are trying to get the "heavy" sound back.. but they could have done that in another way then releasing this crap............ I have now officially listened to this c.d. at least 12 times.. trying to find a different angle to go at this.. but I just can't.. and the only reason they are getting 2 stars and not one.. is I don't want them to sue me... and wouldn't it have been funny if this was the album they called Load..... and even though this is probably the worst album of Metallica's career.. it will still sell tons, cause Metallica has loyal fans... and always will.

Favorite Song: Well since I feel like I'm ripping on this so much.. "Sweet Amber" is cool.. "Frantic" is o.k. the drums are a little better..
Least Favorite Song: "Invisible Kid" .... Hate it.. hate the whining in it... "All Within My Hands" ..hate the drums.. and "Kill Kill Kill..." interesting lyrics.. and all the rest.. I CAN'T STAND THE DRUMS...

I have to agree with your review of this mess,
I think the guys are on crack.
I too freaked out on the 1st song's snare, but figured it was just for that
song. Wrong.
There isnt one normal snare hit on the whole thing.
I 've loved Metallica since
"Kill Em All" but this thing is so bad
I never even played the second cd.
Maybe they want to get out of their record
contract, this should do it.
I should have known when I found this cd in the used section of the
cd store and
it had only been out for a month.

agree with the review. I have been a fan since kill em all. I can
even appreciate load and reload to an extent. It was a phase for metallica.
But crap, I mean, even Jason Newstead quit the "most important metal band"
in history because they werent metal at all anymore. You would have thought
htis would have given them a kick in the pants, but NO. They wanted to go
for a raw heavy sound, they should have ditched pro tools recording and gone
back to their old setup. Just guitar, amp, and maybe 1 pedal or two. THAT
is the raw sound. It doesnt sound natural raw, more like mmillion dollar
studio raw. I gotta say that I think metallica, thinks that we as fans are
stupid and mindless. Like we are loyal dogs you can kick
all overt the
place and will keep coming back. Thats CRAP! These people write music like
just because "they are metallica", they can write whatever peice of crap and
people will still love them for it. Look at their album sales. Puppets
sold like 8 million+ and St. Anger sold like 2 million, their worst record
to date. The snare drum is HORRENDOUS. And not only that, WHERE ARE THE
SOLO"S? That is like a total slap to kirks face. not to mention his solos
on the last few albums have sucked, I think he owes a few good one soon.
Load, reload, Garage, S&M, and now this?! Its has been what, 13 years
almost since they wrote anything remotely metal. that is original at least.
I think about it, puppetts lightning, justice kill em all, were freocious,
these kids were pissed off, and were hungry. Now, they have millions of
dollars, the best meals any night of the week and they live like kings,
what do they have to be pissed off about now? What right do they have?>
When they lost touch with that , they lost their knack. The thought that I
am prepared to just forget metallica, after being provided with over a
decade of musical dissapointments, is upsetting , but they give me no
choice. Metallica, is now officialy not in my top 50, hell top 100 anymore.
GUYS (in metallica) PLEASE LEARN THAT WHAT WE WANT IS YELLING< HARD FAST
MUSIC WITH SOLOS? WHAT WE WANT IS METAL!!! NOT THIS STUPID CRAP? GET IT
