David Aaron : 12:00 Scenery
Review:
This isn't the first David Aaron c.d. I have reviewed, and by the looks of things, not the last.. I even have 2 more after this one.. but I don't want to listen to them till I'm ready... His musicianship is improving with every release.. and the production quality is getting there also. David Plays most the instruments, and writes all the music.. The lyrics are deep and at times dark.. I always feel myself wishing I was in a dark room w/only candles lit.. feeling the lyrics as they are my own.. David sounds a lot like Alice in Chains vocals.. which isn't a bad thing.. There is even a great instrumental on piano on here.. great stuff... check him out!

Review:
Well I had the chance to see these guys live a couple years ago, with Stryper... and they kicked ass! So I contacted them about a review.. The c.d. is just as rockin.. full of great grooves, lyrics, and driving beats! These guys are fit in with the Nickelback, Creed, etc. no reason why they are not signed and touring the States.. If you like good ol' straight ahead rock.. the way music should be! Check these guys out.. and catch them live if you get a chance, it's a whole package deal!

Favorite songs: All of them.. but love the guitar work on "Reprise" amazing.. and soothing.

The March Hares : EP1 and EP2
Review: This is a pop rock band from London, England who are trying to revive the sound of the great British bands. I think they're failing miserably. While their sound is obviously a direct rip-off of those early bands, they don't have the songwriting ability of those bands. I didn't find anything catchy, or fun sounding, in either one of these ep's. By the way, how about naming your releases, instead of calling them EP1 and EP2. How lame! Sorry, I'm getting more agitated as I'm sitting here listening to them to try to find something nice to say. I have to go turn this off.

Of Infinity : The Essence of Infinity
Review: Female fronted Goth metal in the vein of bands like Evanescence is what Of Infinity is all about. This is a collection of very talented musicians along with beautiful vocals from Alessandra. Also a list of string guest musicians rounds out their sound. While this is not the kind of music I usually listen to, I was blown away by how technically proficient they were, both musically, and vocally. Very well recorded for an unsigned band as well. Very cool package that they've put together too. If your into Goth metal, then check this band out!

Heart Full of Dirt : American Road
Review: You get exactly what you would expect from this band. Good old American, hit the open road on your bike, get in a bar fight, drunk before noon (one of their songs), steak and potatoes rock and roll. This is some great stuff. Reminds me of old Mellencamp stuff, but much more grittier. The band is loose and the vocals are rough. It's just what this music needs. It's like they don't even care. They're just there to play the music, and have a good time.

Favorite Tracks: "Roadhouse", "American Road", "Drunk by Noon", "It's All About You"
Least Favorite Tracks: "Stop Right Here", "Cactus and Skulls"

Rebirth of Dissection : Maha Kali
Review: This is a 2 song ep from an unsigned band who I believe are out of Sweden. They are your typical nu-metal. Heavy sounding with those same vocals that you hear on a lot of the new stuff that been coming out lately. I'll break this down song-by-song. Track 1: Maha Kali - great song... strong structuring... guitars sound great... still can't get past the vocals. Track 2: Unhallowed (rebirth version) - didn't care for this one.. nothing catchy about it... still can't get past the vocals. The overall recording is very good for an unsigned band. If your into death metal, you might like this, but I don't think these guys are going anywhere.

Innuendo : Half Empty
Review: This trio out of Phoenix, Arizona has been around for about 10 years, and this is their 6th independent release. Their experience shows in the musicianship, and in the production and layout of the songs. This is straight ahead pop/rock with some great acoustic type ballads. The songwrighting is superb, and they experiment with different instruments on several songs. Unfortunately, I didn't care for the vocals too much. They just didn't grab me and pull me into the music. All in all, not too bad!

Juda's Wake - There is Only Technology
Review: This is the most professional sounding and looking disc I've seen from a unsigned band. Really original sounding metal. They've been able to pull from so many different influences, that they are able to blend it fluidly to develop a new metal sound. Like a lot of the great metal bands that have come out in the past several years (Disturbed, Godsmack), they have great melodies AND great rhythms, but they don't sound like everybody else. The recording and mixing that they got on this disc is just as good as a disc from a major label. Kudos to these guys for making sure that happens. It doesn't hurt that they have terrific songwriting talents and a tight sound. The artwork and liner notes are just as professional as the music. This band will be signed!

SLM - Pass It To The Left
Review: This is a pretty good straight ahead rock band with some other influences such as blues, country, and funk thrown in. Some of it I liked, but some of it I didn't. They sounded more like a band I would go see at a bar or party, then someone who I would hear on the radio, or buy a c.d. from. They have some great lyrics, but you don't get to hear them so much. The musical interludes between vocals seemed to get long and repetitive at times. Either shorten those, or write more lyrics! A couple of catchy tunes on here though.

Neversay - S/T
Review:
I have been jamming this c.d. forever now.. before I realized, I was listening to an unsigned band... at least not on a huge label.. this is by far my favorite c.d. I have reviewed from this last year.. signed or unsigned... they have the catchiest lyrics, melodies.. everything.. If your looking for a great straight ahead rock n roll band these are the guys! I love the vocals from Marc Grover.. from raspy, to deep and hypnotic, the guitar work is crunchy and heavy when needed but yet, experimental, and unique at other times.. I can't say enough about these guys!

Favorite song: EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM!.. But if I HAD to pick a few.. "I Never Thought", "Walk All Over You", "Feel", "Since You've Been Gone" (I feel YA!) never mind, I want them all listed.
Least Favorite: NONE!

This c.d. has been sitting here for a while (like most the reviews I'm super behind on).. but something drew me to it.. maybe its cool cover, I didn't know what to expect from the band, These guys a re great, perfect production, great lyrics, the only thing that gets me.. is every song, is at the same level, mellow, and it starts to sound like the same song... don't get me wrong, I love this c.d.! They should just mix it up a bit.... if your a Beatles fan.. you will dig this new century version.

Favorite Track: "Hats Off", great mellow groove... "Man Overboard" is my favorite though.
Least Favorite:
None.. they just sound the same after a while..

R50 - All Time Low
Review:
This is the second c.d. I've reviewed from these guys, and they just keep getting better, great catchy lyrics, and melodies. There is no reason why these guys are not signed, and I'll keep saying that till they are! This one seems to have a little more of the faster punk-ier sound then the previous release, which had more of a commercial pop feel to it, but these guys have the musical talent to pull off just about anything.. Check them out!!

Favorite Track: Love them all, stand-outs are: "All Time Low", "The Life I Know".. very Goo Goo Dollsish... and I love "Better Version"
Least Favorite Track:
Can't say I dislike any of them...

The Red Room Theory - Invitations
Review: This is a 4 song ep from a pretty new band out of the UK. I think that they are headed in the right direction, but are still lacking some things. Musically, they sound pretty good. Good, solid heavy rock. Some of the songs show some decent songwriting. The production on the cd is not very good. A good mix could really liven up the tracks. Also, I couldn't get past the vocals. I felt that if someone else was singing, that I would have enjoyed it more. Not necessarily bad, but just didn't seem to fit the music. This band has a lot of potential. Let's see what they can do with it.

Review:
Wow, what a great band! I truely enjoyed this cd. They sound kind of like a heavy Cure with some punk and maybe surf influences. I don't know if that's what they're going for, but really original sounding. Great songwriting and lyrics make this a superb cd. I hope they get checked out. Being from the Denver/Boulder area, they may have trouble with that. Someone needs to pick these guys up!

Review:
Another quality unsigned band. Why are these bands not being picked! Heavy rock with some groove to it. I can't compare these guys to anyone I've heard. Original sounding music and vocals. I'm so glad to not hear another copycat. With this being a 3 song demo, I only wish I could hear more. I can't get this out of my cd player!

Favorite Tracks: "Suffer Unto Me"; "Thin Ice"; "I Don't Need You"
